Beautiful Design

We think that the De’Longhi BCO430 looks very nice with its piano black and silver surfaces. The machine also has very nice shapes which give it a bit of a sci-fi touch. Therefore, if we were to judge the BCO430 only by its design, we’d definitely buy it.

Even though the BCO430 is partially a drip coffee maker, we find that its design doesn’t remind us of the design of Keurig, Technivorm, Ninja, or other coffee makers of this kind. That said, being unique in such a vast category of coffee makers could make this machine an easy target for coffee enthusiasts.

What Does the Brew Pause Feature Do?

The Brew Pause feature on the De’Longhi BCO430 is there for people who don’t like waiting for their cup of coffee until the machine has finished brewing it. This feature lets you pause the machine for a while to take the coffee that is brewed and drink it. After you’ve done that, you can command the machine to continue with the brewing process.

Take into account that this is an option you see on many good drip coffee makers.

Is a 40-Ounce Water Reservoir Enough for You?

The De’Longhi BCO430 has a 40-ounce water reservoir which might be small for some people. If you live on your own or have a family that doesn’t drink coffee that much, you could probably find good use in this combination machine. The same applies if you really love having a lot of coffee during the day, but don’t mind refilling the tank a bit more often.

However, if you really need a machine with a tank with a bigger capacity, the BCO430 might not be the right machine for you.

Carbon Filter for You Tank

This machine comes with a carbon filter for its water reservoir. This is great because you won’t need to descale it that often nor will you have to frown at the bitter or distasteful flavor of your coffee. The carbon filter is great for reducing many chemicals like chlorine and minerals which can make your coffee taste bad.

DeLonghi BCO430 Combination Pump Espresso and 10-cup Drip Coffee Machine with Frothing Wand, Silver and Black An Easily Accessible Front-Loading System

The De’Longhi BCO430 makes it very easy for you to get a cup of coffee because it has a front-loading system. You can put your pre-ground coffee in a special chamber on the front of the machine and add the water required for brewing in a chamber right next to the one for the coffee.

Passive Cup Warmer

A cup warmer is a highly desirable feature for espresso machines and coffee makers to have because temperature plays a big role in the way your coffee drinks taste. Luckily, the De’Longhi BCO430 does have a passive cup warmer to heat up your cups before it fills them with coffee.

A cup warmer is especially important for milk-based drinks because of the lower temperature at which milk has to be steamed. Since the steaming temperature can’t exceed a certain level so that the milk doesn’t lose its flavor, milk-based drinks are usually colder than a regular espresso.

If the cup you’re using for your coffee drink is also cold or at least not heated enough, you’ll end up with a drink that will be even colder. Therefore, machines that have cup warmers and heat up your coffee cups before they serve you espresso have a better chance of making a better-tasting coffee.

Program the Machine to Make Your Coffee Anytime

Many people like having a daily routine that also extends to the time in which they drink coffee. If you’re one of these people, you’ll be happy to know that the BCO430 can be programmed to make you your coffee drinks when you want them to be made. Furthermore, you can also program the shut-down time of the machine so that it automatically turns off when you know you won’t be using it.

A Glass Coffee Carafe

The De’Longhi BCO430 comes with a glass coffee carafe for the coffee coming out of the drip-coffee system. This carafe will keep your coffee hot and fresh.

Can the BCO430 Froth Your Milk Well Enough?

This combination machine has a manual milk frother to create a nice foam for your cappuccino, latte, and macchiato. With the De’Longhi BCO430, your milk foam will always have a decent consistency and a nice taste. If you’re inexperienced with frothing milk, however, you’ll have to put in some effort into learning how to correctly froth your milk to get the perfect results.

Deal Breakers

This combination machine has a few downsides that could be deal breakers for many people out there.
First of all, it doesn’t have a built-in coffee grinder. This means that you’ll need to purchase pre-ground coffee, a manual grinder, or an electric one like the Capresso Infinity or the Baratza Encore. Even though this is a common downside to many of the cheaper combination machines, we’d love to see a grinder integrated to the BCO430.

Second, the BCO430 has a single boiler, which means that the machine cannot brew and steam at the same time. Some people will dislike this since coffee drinks taste better when there’s no time for the espresso to kind of cool down until the milk is steamed. However, the BCO430 makes a fast transition from brewing to steaming, so there won’t be a big decrease in your espresso’s temperature while you’re frothing.

We already mentioned that the small capacity of the water reservoir is a potential downside of this machine. However, if you don’t mind the size of the tank or if its size meets your needs, this is something that’s no downside for you.

  2. Guys, is it common for the De’Longhi BCO430 to be leaking water or is that just a rumor? I kind of like the machine, but the leaking water thing doesn’t let me buy it.

    • Hey, Liz!! We love cats too!! :)) ☕

We think that many people experience a problem with their espresso machines leaking water. That said, some people who’ve bought the De’Longhi BCO430 have probably experienced this issue as well. This is why it’s so important to maintain a machine the right way. Regular descaling of the machine and proper cleaning of the water reservoir, the filter holder, and the drip tray will protect both the inner and the outer parts of the BCO430 from damage. However, if you do experience any issues with your machine, you can always call a De’Longhi service or repair center near you and ask the staff to help you fix the problem. Here’s some information about how to do that:
