The Jura ENA Micro 5 is a beautiful little machine!
The charm of its tiny plastic body lives through the beautiful silver coloring contrasting the black top and back of the machine. Its coffee spout is nicely accented with a cylindrical body and its ability to rotate. The machine’s shape, furthermore, adds to the elegance of the Jura ENA Micro 5 through its linear design that contrasts the round lines of the spouts.
Not bigger than 9.1 x 12.7 x 17.5 inches, this compact coffee machine houses a 4.4-ounce bean hopper on the top and a 36.8-ounce water reservoir at the back. While the hopper has an aroma preservation lid, the reservoir uses the efficient Clearyl Blue water filter.
All in all, this is the Jura that applauds to your love for simple, but sophisticated coffee machines that fit on the narrowest of kitchen counters!
A simple choice of drinks for a simple coffee routine
Simplicity is not something to avoid, especially not if you value having relaxing mornings before work. It is also not something to frown upon if you admire the simple, ‘clean’ body of the coffee and its unique, endearing aroma, without introducing additional flavors to the drink. Whichever the case, the Jura ENA Micro 5 is a good machine to choose.
There’s simply no way of complicating things with this coffee machine. It only makes three drinks: coffee, espresso, and ristretto. It can make them double or single, of course, but, with this Jura, these are all the coffee beverages you get.
One-of-a-kind coffee spouts
The spouts of this coffee machine are designed to rotate as you choose between the single and double options of the three coffee delights. We love this design touch— it’s so stylish and we frankly haven’t seen it on any other coffee or espresso machine! It is important to point out, however, that the machine will brew you a shot or two of a drink depending on how you have the spouts turned.
Apart from rotating, the coffee spouts of the Jura ENA Micro 5 are also height-adjustable. That said, they can move vertically between 1.2 and 4.4 inches, making for a cup clearance that’s not bad at all!
Programmable settings in favor of your coffee style
It is through its programmable settings that the Jura ENA Micro 5 gives a new meaning to simplicity in coffee-making. The machine might have a short beverage menu, but its strength and cup size settings give you some personalization of the drinks.
These two adjustments are available through the modest symbol display on the machine’s top. There’s no bigger proof that the machine keeps everything simple than realizing how easy to use this red-lit interface is.
Now that you have a better idea of what the Jura ENA Micro 5 represents, there’s one more thing left to cover: how coffee made by this machine tastes.
Literally all the features that we described so far make for the nice, Jura-style taste of the coffee. It is the 15-Bar pump, the pre-infusion (or, as Jura calls it, the Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System), the programmable strength and coffee volume, and the Aroma+ grinder that create the fresh taste of coffee.
As you can see, the machine relies on a few of Jura’s technologies, which have the coffee ground, bloomed, and brewed the way Jura thinks is the best.
With this Jura, every drink has the Jura imprint—the imprint of a bean-to-cup coffee machine that tries to preserve the coffee freshness from the moment you add more beans to the hopper to the moment the aroma hits your olfactory nerve and you start drinking your coffee.
FAQ about the Jura ENA Micro 5
Is there a waiting time between coffees?
With the Jura ENA Micro 5, there’s almost no waiting time between beverages. This is because the coffee machine uses a good stainless steel boiler to heat up the water for the drinks.
Is the Jura ENA Micro 5 similar to Keurig coffee makers?
Apart from both of them making coffee, Jura and Keurig have very little in common.
The ENA Micro 5 makes coffee, espresso, and ristretto. A Keurig can never make the last two drinks we mentioned simply because these coffee makers only make regular coffee. The entire brewing mechanism of the ENA Micro 5 is different from the one of a Keurig, and, also, a Keurig cannot grind fresh beans, but uses K-Cups.
If you’re trying to choose between a coffee machine and a coffee maker, we recommend you start by defining whether you want regular coffee or whether you love espresso and other coffees created with the help of a pressure pump.
Can the Jura ENA Micro 5 make an Americano?
This coffee machine can’t make a true Americano because it doesn’t have a hot water wand, but you can experiment with its different cup sizes to get a drink that’s similar to Americano.
What are some alternatives to the Jura ENA Micro 5?
A nice single-serve coffee machine that can give you nice espressos, coffees, and ristrettos is the Jura ENA Micro 1. The machine is almost identical to the Jura ENA Micro 5, but its coffee spouts don’t rotate and it doesn’t serve double coffees. This is the perfect machine for you if you know you love these three coffee drinks and you enjoy drinking coffee alone.
If you trust Jura’s Pulse Extraction Process and need a bigger cup clearance, you might as well check out the Jura A1. This machine uses an Aroma G3 grinder which is better than the Aroma+ grinder of the Jura ENA Micro 5, and the better the coffee is ground, the better it will taste. Keep in mind that, like the Micro 1, the A1 only serves single espresso, ristretto, and coffee.
How do you feel after reading about the Jura ENA Micro 5? Do you still want to keep it simple or do you want to transform coffee into a tempting mixture of flavors? If you love the Jura ENA Micro 5, that’s great! If you don’t, however, you can take the next step and check out some of our other Jura machine reviews. Take care!
