Our Pick: Keurig K250

The K250 is more versatile when it comes to the K-Cup sizes it can work with and it offers the option for controlling the strength of the coffee. It’s great to have such versatility for different situations. This coffee maker is narrower than the K55 which makes it a good option if it’s going to be put on a smaller kitchen counter or one that has a lot of things on it. Furthermore, the K250 also gives you the option to choose between multiple colors of its housing so that you can enjoy at the great coffee the coffee maker makes and at the way it looks too.

Keurig K-Select Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, With Strength Control and Hot Water On Demand, Matte Black About Keurig K55

Newbie coffee lovers who’ve never before had a coffee maker tend to really enjoy the Keurig K55. This is because the K55 is a simple machine with some pretty straightforward controls and because it is one of the best K-Cup coffee makers out there. You have three brew buttons that correspond to the three K-cup sizes that the coffee maker works with and that’s about it all. The K55 certainly doesn’t leave you a lot of space to brew yourself the wrong coffee drink.

The K55 could be the right coffee maker for you if you are into single-serve coffee makers. Don’t let its single-serve properties give you the wrong image of the K55 as of a coffee maker that can’t brew that much coffee at once. The water tank that sits on the side of the coffee maker can hold up to 48 ounces of water and is removable.

There are many coffee pods with which the K55 is compatible, and these include K-Cups and third-party pods as well. A lot of customers see this large pod compatibility of the K55 as an advantage and consider it to be the best Keurig coffee maker. When that gets paired with the affordable price of the coffee maker, the K55 often becomes the first coffee maker for many people out there.

In terms of the coffee preparation process, the K55 is a coffee maker that makes the coffee in less than a minute. Furthermore, the auto-off feature of the K55 will save you some money which you would’ve otherwise spent on paying higher electricity bills. We think that this says a lot about the Keurig K55 staying in the game and not being an outdated coffee maker even though it is a model from the Keurig 1.0 line.

Keurig K250 Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, With Strength Control, Peacock Blue About Keurig K250

The Keurig K250 is sleek and compact and has an LCD screen made to guide you through the available options of the coffee maker. Think about what your favorite color is because the K250 comes in multiple colors to make every customer happy. You can use this coffee maker with K-Cups and even use ground coffee with the reusable My K-Cup, so don’t worry about your ground coffee sitting there just like that because you can still use it.

As a Keurig 2.0 product, the K250 has some nice features that let you taste a little bit of programmability. This single-serve coffee maker lets you control the strength of the coffee which means that you can drink your coffee strong or not that strong.

Furthermore, the idea behind the K250 was the coffee maker to give you the option to use K-Cups with different seizes. This idea becomes a reality through the cup, mug, and carafe-size pods the coffee maker can use. This means that you can brew up to 30 ounces of coffee at once, which is amazing if you have guests over or you want to have some coffee with your family while on a picnic. The secret of brewing larger mugs and carafes is to remove the drip tray of the K250, which is easy to do.

There are moments when hot cocoa or a cup of tea is a better option than coffee. Once that moment comes, the K250 is prepared to dispense hot water and let you enjoy some hot beverage other than a coffee drink. Just don’t forget to use one of the included water filters with the coffee maker and get a tasty coffee, tea, or hot cocoa.

Similarities Between Keurig K55 and K250

Since these are both coffee makers made by Keurig, you can expect that there will be certain similarities between them. First of all, they both work with K-Cups and ground coffee, which is typical for many Keurig coffee makers. Then, both the K55 and the K250 can brew K-Cups in different sizes, which means that you can make stronger coffees and coffees that are not that strong.

Both of these coffee makers are single-serve, easy to use, and pretty compact. This means that you won’t have an issue using or cleaning either one of these two coffee makers and you’ll also be able to find a place on your counter for both of them. Furthermore, both of the coffee makers perform well and look good.

Differences Between Keurig K55 and K250

As much as we would like to find more similarities between the K55 and the K250, the fact that they are two very different coffee makers is impossible to fight against.

Everything about the K55 and the K250 is different, including their price. The K55 is the less expensive coffee maker between the two, which is normal considering that it is the simpler of the two coffee makers. However, the K250 does well to prove that it is well worth its price with everything it has to offer.

Another difference between the coffee makers is the K-Cup sizes they can brew. The K55 is a good coffee maker that can brew 6, 8, and 10-ounce K-cups. However, it stands no chance to the K250 which can brew 4, 6, 8, and 10-ounce K-Cup, K-Mud pods from 12 to 16 ounces, and even K-Cups for carafes of 22, 26, and 30 ounces. The K250 is definitely much more versatile when it comes to the K-Cup sizes it can brew.

The K55 and the K250 also work with different pods. The K55 is a Keurig 1.0 line coffee maker and it works with both K-Cups and third-party pods, which makes it a very convenient coffee maker. On the other hand, the K250 only works with K-Cups, which means that you won’t be able to use third-party pods on it.

The option to control the strength of the coffee is available only on the K250, and this is a great option to have. Many people prefer to drink coffee with different intensity during different parts of the day, and the K20 does give this opportunity.

When it comes to their water reservoirs, the K55 is the coffee maker that can brag with its reservoir when compared to the K250. Its water tank has a capacity of 48 ounces, which is a clearly larger reservoir than the one of the K250 which has a capacity of 40 ounces.

Between the two coffee makers, it is the K250 that is the narrower one. This coffee maker also doesn’t weight that much. However, the K55 is the shorter one of the two models, so deciding which coffee maker to get will have to do with the properties of your kitchen counter and the surrounding areas.

One other difference between the coffee makers is that the K55 has a button control panel, while the K250 has a black and white LCD screen.

Which One Should You Go With?

We definitely consider the K250 to be a better option than the K55. After all, brewing different K-Cup sizes, allowing you to program the coffee strength, being narrower, and coming in different colors makes it be adequate for different situations. However, you can still go for the K55 if you are looking for a more affordable and simpler coffee maker.

    • Hello, Sarah!! We love starting our days by answering the questions of our visitors while having hot coffee!! :)) ☕

No, installing the filter on the Keurig K55 is not hard at all. The installation will take you no longer than 10 minutes and it mostly has to do with rinsing the parts of the filter.

The water filter for Keurig coffee makers has two filter holders (upper and lower one) and a filter cartridge. Before you install the filter into the water reservoir, you’ll have to let the cartridge sit in fresh water for about five minutes and then rinse it for 60 seconds. After you’re done with rinsing the cartridge, you’ll need to let water run through the mesh of the lower filter holder and put the cartridge into it after you’ve cleaned its mesh. The upper filter holder should be then placed on the lower filter holder and locked into position. Once the filter is assembled, you should attach it to the bottom of the empty water tank and you’ll be able to use the K55.

We hope you’re now ready to install the filter of the Keurig K55 coffee maker. In case you’re more of a visual learner, we’re leaving a Keurig help video about how to install a water filter in a Keurig at your disposal:

    • Hello, there!! Iced coffee would be great for the upcoming hot summer days, right? :)) ☕

Unfortunately, the Keurig 250 doesn’t come with the option for making iced coffee. The Keurig coffee maker that does, however, make iced coffee is the Keurig K-Elite. 1. Good day,

I’d like to know whether it is good to be part of the Club Keurig or not. We’ve been thinking about the Club for some time now with my family, it sounds like it’s worth it, but we’d be grateful to hear about your opinion.

    Sincerely,

    • Hello, Anthony!! We appreciate your trust in the Morning Call Coffee Stand team!! :)) ☕

Yes, we think that both passionate Keurig lovers and Keurig can experience the benefits of customers joining the Club Keurig.

When you earn a fair number of points per different purchases, you can afford yourself some of the products manufactured by Keurig for free. Also, you’re not obliged to buy more than one product by Keurig a year to keep your points active, and if you are a fan of Keurig buying their products will probably not be a problem for you. That said, Keurig doesn’t oblige you to anything once you’re a member of the Club and there are no fees. The only thing is that if you want to keep your points active, you’ll have to buy one product a year.

However, please think these things through before you decide to become a member because, after all, everything will depend on what you want to get out of the Club Keurig and what’s convenient for you and your family. Please think about how many K-Cup or K-Carafe pods you’ll need annually, think whether you prefer using the Universal My K-Cup filter, think whether you will be buying a lot of products from Keurig in general. The Club is something you should invest in so to get some products for free.

Now, is it better to rely on Club Keurig or on the often lower prices on Keurig products that you can find online and in stores? Well, that will, again, depend on how often you buy Keurig products and what kind of products you buy. We don’t exclude the possibility of being both a member of the club and purchasing some Keurig products at other places when you spot a very convenient discount. :))

We hope that our answer helped you clarify whether you and your family want to be members of Club Keurig. If you have more questions about the Club, please don’t hesitate to drop a comment on our site.

Take care and have a fantastic day!! :)) ☕

  2. Not a bad review! I, personally, am more interested in the K-Select model, but the K250 seems to also be good. Care if you give me your advice on which one I should pick?

    • Hey, Nancy!! Thank you for commenting on our site!! :)) ☕

The Keurig K250 is the coffee maker that you want if you often need to brew a carafe. Not only does this coffee maker brew 4, 6, 8, and 10-ounce cups of coffee, but 22, 26, and 30-ounce carafes.

The Keurig K-Select, on the other hand, can accommodate 7.4” tall travel mugs and goes a bit bigger on the cup sizes with 6, 8, 10, and 12-ounce cups available at the touch of a button. This coffee maker also has a bigger water tank of 52 ounces compared to the one of the K250 which holds no more than 40 ounces of water.

What do the K250 and the K-Select have in common? Well, that would be the strength control of the coffee, the compatibility with the My K-Cup Universal Reusable coffee filter, the removable drip tray, and other features notable for Keurig coffee makers. So, which one is better? We think that we’ll let you make your own decision based on the facts that we gave you and your personal coffee-related habits. :))

Take your time with your decision and take care!! :)) ☕

It is not hard to descale a Keurig coffee maker. All you’ll need to do that is the Keurig descaling solution and a coffee cup. Keurig recommends you descale your coffee maker once every 3 to 6 months for best performance. Here’s Keurig’s descale tutorial where you can see how to properly descale your Keurig coffee maker:
